Science for everyone (my books: Electric City, Ten Drugs, Alchemy of Air, Demon Under the Microscope). I believe in evidence, civility, and a better future.
@oregon_yr We'll find out eventually what the truth is about this sad death. For now, only one thing is clear: OR Young Rs are seeking to make political points out of a family's grief. Shame.

@USATRUMPMAN1 Real, actual science, not politics, at play here, folks. This doc falsely claimed masks cause CO2 poisoning, refused to follow state medical guidelines, and put his patients in danger. Yeah, he should have his license yanked. https://t.co/Lwaq7Io85E
@pcdavistoo@duckbyface@beinlibertarian Do us all a favor and check your facts before posting misinformation. ID's Covid case rate is nearly double OR's: https://t.co/DOsUJPkKk3 Death rate in ID is 70% higher: https://t.co/DOsUJPkKk3
@gabidelphia@JCMcDonough12@PolitiBunny@NEOsborn Please stop posting misinformation. Here's some interesting new public health data from Seattle area, where unvaccinated Covid patients are almost 50X more likely to end up in the hospital than vaccinated patients. https://t.co/jpbQcuoray
@maiasz@GeopoliticalBum @james_e_baldwin No, what I'm saying is that no nation has eradicated addiction (as far as I know). "Success" is a matter of degree. Nor am I a fan of Chinese authoritarianism. But after WWII they made enormous strides in a short time dealing with rampant addiction. There are no easy answers.
@james_e_baldwin @maiasz Sounds a bit like the US between 1865 and 1910, when morphine, syringes, and opium were available OTC and addiction was managed by physicians. The scale of addiction was enormous, but it was all very genteel.
@GeopoliticalBum @james_e_baldwin @maiasz Burn the fields, shoot the dealers, jail the addicts. Pretty Draconian. But it many ways it worked in the most addicted nation on earth.
@MilwSpinny@JoeMDuncan@NikkiFried More #misinformation. Please quit cherry picking data and posting false statements. Or at least give your sources. MS's death rate is higher than NY's, but doesn't fit your narrative. And FL's Covid hospitalization rate is 4-5 X OR's. https://t.co/47bEsOPsac
@nickjam96618574 No vaccine 100% effective. “Both hospitalizations and deaths are extremely small in terms of percentage of those vaccinated,” Chunhuei Chi, director of the Center for Global Health at Oregon State University. “That’s why we call the current surge a pandemic of the unvaccinated.”
@TinaxRenee No vaccine 100% effective. “Both hospitalizations and deaths are extremely small in terms of percentage of those vaccinated,” Chunhuei Chi, director of the Center for Global Health at Oregon State University. “That’s why we call the current surge a pandemic of the unvaccinated.”
@LizzieSeesRed@jayus1418@AnyMajor_Dude@Oregonian It's definitely a county-by-county thing. The surge is happening pretty much everywhere in OR, but to a much greater degree in more rural, less vaxxed counties. https://t.co/jPqylydVAh
@jayus1418@AnyMajor_Dude@Oregonian Simply not true. Why does this misinformation keep getting repeated? Look at case rates in the last 7 days -- OR's not doing great, but a number of other states have much bigger surges. And OR has a lower case rate in general than many other states. https://t.co/MTvqqQJO0q
