I've been thinking a lot about Scottie's comments this week, and I'm not sure anyone has viewed them the way I did, so if you don't mind, I want to share why they resonated with me:
Don't let your job define who you are.
Gratitude doesn't seem to be a character quality that is valued highly enough. I appreciate that Scottie has it. Best player on the planet. Could have moved beyond the wonder of beautiful places like Cypress, but he hasn't.
Aspirational.
What an unbelievable scene in Tampa Bay. If you want to know what one player means to a franchise, a city, a fan base, look no further. Mike freaking Evans
Just to update this stat: Bucs have averaged 30.7 points in last six games, but are 1-5 in that stretch. In NFL history, there are 1,353 times a team has scored 180+ points in a 6-game span. Of those 1,353, only two managed only one win:
2019 Bucs (193 points)
2024 Bucs (182)
