Enough bashing of Europe. It’s an incredible place! Seven reasons to be bullish on Europe - and what we still need to change:
✅ Highly educated population, good schools—e.g., 79.6% tertiary attainment (25–34) vs. 49.4% US
✅ Great infrastructure—e.g., 87% live within 10 km of a railway station
✅ Strong social safety net—e.g., universal healthcare in most EU states
✅ Less debt than US—e.g., 81.6% debt-to-GDP vs. 124%
✅ Functioning democracy, strong values—e.g., 8.1/10 Democracy Index vs. 7.8 US
✅ Beauty draws talent—e.g., 10 of 27 EU countries top US HDI
✅ Affordable engineers—e.g., €50–70K vs. $90–120K US

But this is not enough. Here’s what needs to be done:
☑️ Reform investment and pension programs to drive more investment into growth.
☑️ Increase AI adoption and radically boost digitisation.
☑️ Make it easier/faster to hire international top talent.
☑️ Create a level playing field for fair competition against Big Tech. DMA is great legislation but needs to be enforced.
☑️ Our values are strong but we need to combine them with pragmatism.
