“Putin is losing more and more so-called good friends that Russia has been promising to protect,” said Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna [@Tsahkna] in a recent interview with TVP World.
Tsahkna claimed that Putin is now in a weaker political position globally.
Russia’s army in Ukraine has suffered a sharp rise in men killed or missing in action, according to European and Ukrainian officials, reducing the chances of the battlefield breakthrough President Vladimir Putin seeks. https://t.co/5kY1HFhoWA
Was ist 10 bis 20 mal teurer als die Hilfe für die #Ukraine?
Keine Hilfe für die Ukraine.
(Flüchtlinge, höhere Ausgaben zur Abschreckung Russlands, ausfallender Handel)
Today's agreement will provide Ukraine with long-term funding and strengthen its position on the battlefield and at the negotiating table.
Nearly four years into Russia’s full-scale war, our solidarity is unbreakable. EU will keep raising the cost of aggression, including push ahead with the 20th sanctions package.
If Putin wants peace he can just get out of Ukraine. If Europe wants peace, we can just tell Putin to get out of Ukraine. Neither of these things are currently happening, and nothing good will happen until one of them does. For sure.
Clearly the pressure we’re applying to Putin to come to the peace table and stop massive attacks against Ukraine is not working. President Trump’s idea of going after Putin’s oil customers who prop up his war machine should be pursued with vigor by the U.S. and Europe. President Trump has crippled Putin’s economy by going after oil companies and refineries. Tariffs on India is a good example of how things can change. India is now buying dramatically less Russian oil, and if the other large purchasers would follow suit, it would help end this bloodbath.
Finally, after this massive attack last night, I would urge President Trump to start a process to provide Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles which would be a game changer militarily. In the coming days and weeks, we must apply more pressure to Putin. Any negotiation that is seen as overly rewarding aggression will set in motion catastrophes all over the world. The opposite is equally true. If negotiations result in a free, strong and independent Ukraine – who had to make concessions – then the world will be far more stable.
Time is of the essence.
⚡️Ukraine agrees multi-tier plan for enforcing any ceasefire with Russia
Crucially, the security guarantees and this Ukraine-Euro-US plan depends on a lasting ceasefire that has yet to materialize. And the Russians are showing no true interest in a peace deal to end their war.

Wer am russischen Angriffskrieg teilgenommen hat, darf nicht nach Europa einreisen. Ehemalige russische Soldaten sind ein Sicherheitsrisiko. https://t.co/VOSuThJgWg
Russia’s deliberate bombing of Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, plunging people into darkness and cold, comes perilously close to genocide.
The EU is preparing robust sanctions to increase pressure on Russia and discussing ways to close Europe’s doors to Russian combatants.

A talk about Ukraine in #Davos - 🇺🇦is defending freedom, European values & international law & order.
🇺🇦 is a cradle of defence innovations.
Billions € from 🇪🇺 #SAFE#EDIP Ukraine loans instruments will start reaching Ukraine soon.
We will work with Ukraine at full speed.
@lgewessler Nein.
Now, things move faster than Europe. But we should not degrade ourselves to secondary roles. Europe can be a force that defines the future.

I’m here in Davos to moderate panels for @yes_ukraine @PinchuckFund_en and came across this incredible video, which made me realize there’s more talk here about BS involving Greenland while people continue to die in Ukraine because of real aggression
Ukraine’s courage is extraordinary, but courage alone cannot stop missiles.
Russia is deliberately trying to freeze Ukrainians to death at –15°C. This constitutes war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Putin knows it and does not care.
While peace is discussed, Putin repeatedly reveals his true face: evil beyond words.
We must keep supporting Ukraine🇺🇦.
Russia claims that its economy grew at a 4% rate in 2023 and 2024. But it's probably lying about its inflation numbers.
Russia's real economy probably shrank in both 2023 and 2024.
