400K+ saw my SummerStreets vid of the ultra heavy security pinch points. Some people said I was lying. Said security is "always like that". Some said more brutal things.

I looked at archives and in this clip you'll see in 2026 at 23rd/Park 9+ NYPD vehicles. 2025 & 2024 had none.

I could do this for the last 10 years at ample intersections: 40th, 14th, Canal, Houston they all look the same...very reasonable NYPD presence vs extremely heavy 2026. @Streetfilms conclusion is correct.

A lot of NYPD resent Summer Streets for sulky culture war reasons (hate cyclists, car hog mentality, see healthy use of public space as “liberal”) and are trying to ruin it with costly security overkill

The NYPD does this intentionally, just like they intentionally ignore illegally parked cars, ghost cars, cars going through red lights, etc.

They overwhelmingly do not live in the city, and they hate anything, even safety laws, that would make their driving here less convenient.

A NY State Trooper was arrested in NJ after a night getting drunk at a strip club... while he was supposed to be on duty patrolling MTA bridges and tunnels.

The cop was part of a rogue unit based in NYC that includes some of the state's highest-paid cops, reports @Sammy_Sussman.

For the first time yesterday, I experienced the new @alamodrafthouse QR code ordering system and I can tell you it’s truly awful. Rather than making ordering food and drink more efficient, it actually adds steps to the process AND if you want to order additional items during the film you HAVE to open your phone. No, your cute reference to that irony in your How To Alamo video doesn’t negate how ridiculous this is. Please don’t cut corners with your staff and revert back to physical menus and order cards.

@charcoded @NYCMayor not sure if you are trolling, but it looks like you were going to midtown. The LIRR is the fastest way to get from JFK to midtown. the city ticket is like $5.25 (the airtrain at JFK is a total ripoff, but I believe that’s the Port Authority’s fault—mayor doesn’t control).
