By sheer coincidence, I have articles in print today at both the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times. I’m always grateful for every opportunity I get. I’m so privileged to make a living writing about films that I find compelling. Hope to keep on doing it as long as I can 🙏
Ted Zoli released his study on the costs of running over wildlife. It comes to over $8 billion a year. The report states, that amount could build 200 animal crossings annually and the problem would disappear within a generation. I thought this was a neat idea and worth a Tweet.
Hi friends! For @latimes I profiled Cuban star Ana de Armas. We talked all things BLONDE, with input from director Andrew Dominik, about how she remains grounded as her career skyrockets, and her loving nostalgia for her early films in her home country: https://t.co/8sLeep0ieR
MIJA is in theaters today. A tribute to all children of immigrants, especially those in families divided across borders, pulling for their own aspirations while carrying on their backs their parents’ hopes for a life without fear. My review for @IndieWire: https://t.co/LUX3DSYnkh
Since I’m feeling reflective about life and time passing today, I thought I’d share this piece from a couple years ago about my grandmothers and THE FAREWELL. That’s my grandma, my younger brother, and me at my elementary school. Give it a read if you can: https://t.co/Uvn03ItIjp
Today is my birthday. When I was a kid in Mexico City I wanted to be a painter, then an animator, then a writer of short stories, then a film director. I didn’t become any of those things, but I’ve lived a more interesting life than I could have ever expected. I’m grateful.
I'm just very happy and thankful that David E. Kelley bet on me, not because it’s me or because I’m Mexican but because they bet on a guy that has an accent portraying Mickey Haller." - @rulfomanuel on his starring role in THE LINCOLN LAWYER

ICYMI: THE LINCOLN LAWYER series is now on Netflix. For LA Times, I interviewed its star, Mexican actor Manuel Garcia-Rulfo: a big Criterion Collection fan who once auditioned for Aronofsky’s film “mother!” https://t.co/lpNnYevcMv
I know we all have PTSD from last year - but at the moment there’s no reason for worry. ERCOT has lots of reserve power - a result of their new strategy to acquire more reserves in advance. But peak power demand is not expected until Friday morning. @NBCDFW
Hey y’all!! So honored to served as the President of the Black Graduate Student Association (BGSA) in my last semester at UT! This organization is SOOO important to establishment and advancement of scholarship for Black master’s and PhD students and it certainly has mentored me.
