Mat Ishbia on extending free-to-air Suns and Mercury games through 2030:
"It’s maybe not the most financially successful decision, but it’s the right decision. It’s our jobs as owners in the NBA to do the right thing by the fans.
Do the right thing without any expectation of anything in return. Focus on success, winning, doing the right thing, and money will follow. And if it doesn’t follow, it still feels great — you did the right thing. Too many people focus on spending a dollar to make a dollar; Why don’t you just go do the right thing, make it a great fan experience, make it so fans love the team, and you’ll make money down the road."

This is why I believe we need to shift from a presidential system to a parliamentary republic with a figurehead president to unite our country above party politics.
May I recommend Charles Barkley as our first?
People underestimate this.
The British monarchy is one of the most powerful soft power assets in the world.
When King Charles III speaks on a global stage, he does so above party politics, with history, culture and credibility behind him.
You can’t manufacture that. You can’t elect it. And you certainly can’t replace it.
That’s why it’s respected worldwide.
🚨 @USGS has found that the Appalachian region of the U.S. contains enough lithium to replace 328 YEARS of imports!
Thanks to world-leading mineral science, permitting reform and renewed investment in domestic mining, @POTUS has reclaimed America's mineral independence.
Melania Trump is a woman of extraordinary grace, kindness, and compassion—qualities she showed again last night in a moment of fear, chaos, and uncertainty. After yet another attempt on her husband‘s life, she provided aid and comfort to those who were ushered backstage, including my fiancée, Jacqui. Even in a moment of profound personal anguish, her instinct was to steady others—calm, gracious, and thoughtful.
That quiet strength is who she is.
I have seen that same heart in our work together on the Take it Down Act and her critical humanitarian efforts to reunite Ukrainian children with their families—work that stands testament to the power of compassion to unite and overcome even the most formidable barriers.
She is a class act and a special person, and I’m wishing our amazing @FLOTUS a peaceful and fulfilling birthday today, with her nearest and dearest by her side 🙏🏻🇺🇸
The NBA regular season goes down as yet another demonstration of the power of sports on broadcast TV.
Total time spent viewing the NBA this season was up +22% across national partners. On broadcast networks it was up +128%.
The National Weather Service reports a tornado was on the ground near W. 15th Street and S. Eisenhower Avenue in Ottawa, Kansas, and is moving east.

@paulsen_smw Yes given that the NCAA‘s recent renewal with ESPN prioritized exposure on ABC, I have a hard time believing that the NCAA will not peer pressure the combined Paramount to put the elite eight, onwards on CBS exclusively. But I think what you’ll see Turner channels do is simulcast
@wesj_42 If the WBD/Paramount merger goes through as expected, then my expectation is this is the last season the final four will EVER be on TBS. Let’s hope.
So the NFL is likely going to double its media deals with CBS/FOX/NBC/ESPN/ABC and still carve out enough inventory out of those existing linear packages and sell a few games here and there for $200Mish each to the streamers.
This is not going to end well for consumers.
Pretty insightful from Rolapp on CNBC this morning. Asked about his biggest downside surprise since taking the job and starts talking about the media rights market.
Notes the U.S. market is at $30B and the NFL takes up $12, a number that likely will increase substantially in its new deal. Seems to be inferring the tour will be potentially getting less than its current $7B
Paul Elrich’s predictions were not “premature” as the New York Times claims here — rather, his predictions were just plain wrong, and they led to policies that have been destructive to human flourishing.
