I've always been interested in generative art, but never had the time to dedicate towards learning the coding side of things. It's fun to dream up quick concepts like this in @claudeai and being able to focus on the creative side rather than the technical side.
Over the years, I've published 8 books in the 1000 Dot-to-Dot series and they have been translated into many languages and sold hundreds of thousands of copies
I came up with the concept of the 1000 Dot-to-dot book where every drawing consists of exactly 1000 dots.
Every single dot was placed by me on computer and each drawing took me about a full day to complete.
Its a repititive process, but seeing people around the world get so much enjoyment makes it all worth while.
The best thing i ever did was to publish these experiments on my website. Sharing this side project changed everything.
Out of nowhere, a publisher in London emailed me about a concept to create a 'grown-up' book of intricate dot-to-dot books

I then thought about what would happen if i took things to the extreme end of the scale and create a massive poster of the Mona Lisa out of 6,239 dots.
It look me 9 hours to complete the drawing
My first experiment was this portrait of obama.
It wasn't perfectm but it proved the concept. If you squinted or looked at it from a distance, the lines started to look like a real sketch. It was enough to keep me going.
I've always loved using primitive techniques to create complex art.
Dot-to-Dot drawings are about as basic as it gets, usually just flat outlines for kids that you can tell what it's going to be before you put pen to paper.
I wanted to see if there was a way to push this technique and five them artistic integrity to create tone, and fefinition instead of just shapes.
I haven't done a dot-to-dot drawing in a very long time. Here's one from my book of Marvel characters. It took me about 30 mins to draw on my lunch break. I made a few mistakes along the way too, but the good thing is when there are 1000 dots, no one will ever know.
Taking a look through the archives and found one of my transformative dot-to-dot concepts. This is from 2011, I was experimenting with a way of creating two images in one dot-to-dot image.

The goal is to move beyond a static portfolio and actually bring the logic of my books to life online. I’m having a lot of fun using Framer for the core site and then "vibe coding" the more complex interactive bits in Replit.
It’s been a great process, using AI to help bridge the gap between my analogue background and the interactive experiences I’ve wanted to build for years. Still a work in progress, but it’s getting there.
