@lukeburgis Whalberg telling me to “to get prayed up” won’t make me leave the faith. Neither will cringeworthy appeals for Catholic men to get in shape or reels telling me not to raise my hands during Mass. Repeatedly feeling alone in my faith among a church full of people, however, does.
@Andrewnsnyder A consistently substantial hour-long podcast would be great. I know a podcast is good when I want to give it my full attention. That means listening while I’m driving or working out, not using it as background noise while I’m working.
@AdSeptem@Andrewnsnyder I didn’t see your reply before I responded, but I agree that many podcasts are too long. There is often a lack of discipline around keeping things concise.
@SherriW17351326@frobrien I am not a Church scholar by any stretch, but reign sounds a little secular to me. “During the pontificate of Pope Pius XI” sounds more Catholic to me.
We spent tens of billions bombing Iran.
Now American taxpayers are handing them $300 billion to rebuild.
For context, fixing every bridge in America would cost about the same amount.
Trump is more accommodating of America's adversaries than of the American people.
@tgiovanetti@PJJacks68613363 But if he was actually principled, he never would have maintained the hypocrisy. He wanted the power of being a Senator so he went along with it while it served him. He’s really no better than any of them. He’s probably the smuggest of all.
Sheriff Javier Salazar in San Antonio: "I really wish more effort had been put out in New York…We're gonna take care of our Spurs, any opposing team, and any Knicks fans…Last week we had mounted patrol, drone unit, K-9, on foot, ATVs…You'll see that & then some…absolutely more deputies…
"Knicks & their families were very appreciative of our effort…providing an escort to & from hotel…What we saw with our Spurs [in New York], bus getting surrounded & rocked, bad situation waiting to happen…So we're going to be escorting the Knicks"
@CharlesinRome I had to get a letter from my territorial parish, which I had never entered or knew existed, to get married at a parish where I attended weekly. In addition, my now wife lived within the boundaries where we were getting married. But she wasn’t Catholic so it didn’t matter.
@Andrewnsnyder I’m Catholic, and my experience suggests that one is more likely to hear this type of sermon/homily from a permanent deacon than from a priest.
@bethanyjbabcock That house is being assessed under market value. I am guessing they protested 3 years ago, so I’m wondering what their argument was that allowed them to get a value so much lower than the rest of the neighborhood and less than recent sales.
