Just had an interesting realization about this years NBA and NHL playoffs. Both champions (Knicks and Canes) went 16-3. Impressive, yes. But, even though the scoring is vastly different in both sports, the Canes and Knicks lost their three games combined by a difference of 6.
Breaking: John Tortorella will not return to the Vegas Golden Knights' coaching staff following the 2025-26 season, GM Kelly McCrimmon announced.
Tortorella took over Vegas in late March and led the team to the Stanley Cup Final before falling to Carolina.
@jamespegram1@islesfan777 Why? He helped break the then longest NYY WS drought. Anyway the point is that no player who played in the 70s or earlier was mentioned.
We need this for Mattingly and the Yankees. For all the Yankees success the fact that Donny Baseball didnโt even get a shot to win it with the Yankees stings.
"Tim (Duncan) and David (Robinson) were having a party against us, (now) it's ours... In '99, I had tears of sorrow, today I have tears of joy."
- Patrick Ewing as the Knicks get revenge on the Spurs 27 years later ๐ฃ

I said this in a bitter moment. The Knicks deserved it. If they played the Spurs in a series 100 times theyโd beat them 99 times. Brunson is so far superior to everybody else on the court itโs not even funny. They were best team in league. I hate every second of it but they are worthy champs. It takes a true champion to admit that and Iโm a true champion. Credit to me.
ICYMI: The New York Knicks are NBA Champions, as called by @LT__Murray and @McNuttMonica !
Thank you to all of the incredible fans for listening to @ESPNNewYork this season. Your home of the NBA Champions.
Itโs time to start talking about which #11 has had the most impact in NY sports history.
Mark Messier, Phil Simms and Jalen Brunson have all delivered wearing that #11. Simms brought the first two Super Bowl rings to the Giants including one of the greatest Super Bowl performances ever. Messierโs legacy in NY included a Hart Trophy as MVP in year 1 and ending what was the longest Stanley Cup drought at 54 years in year 3.
With all of that said, Jalen Brunson came to an organization that was far more dysfunctional than the Rangers ever were, left about $100 million on the table in the process and ended what many (myself included) thought would be a never-ending drought while winning finals MVP.
Thereโs a legitimate argument now to say that heโs the best to wear #11 in NY.
Australians got to watch their team earn a historic win during the middle of the day on a Sunday, all together, bars and fanzones packed out, how it should be
But no, it shouldโve been in the middle of the night for them so that Europeans could watch on tv with little interest
I don't know how many seconds into the Knicks championship DVD this video of Brunson finding out Hart got traded to NYK is but it's probably in the first two minutes.
