"A new estimate by the industry ministry on future costs of power generation found that solar power will eclipse nuclear energy in terms of costs as of 2030."

Frahnsi, based on the article you shared, you DO accept the fact that nuclear is PRESENTLY less expensive than solar? (OEB says only hydro costs less than nuclear.)

So right now, GPC is opposing THE lowest-carbon source of energy on planet Earth, and because in 2030 solar MIGHT become cheaper, you think GPC should continue to oppose it?

When you cite a 2021 article saying how low-cost the future looks for solar, are you aware of recent trends in solar (and wind) costs? (Lazard LCOE+ 2023 April report.)

I'm not trying to be flippant here. If you are concerned about the cost of nuclear power, I can try my best to address your concerns.

But don't you think GPC's blanket opposition to THE lowest-carbon source of energy on Earth is concerning? Even IF nuclear was more expensive, should GPC oppose THE lowest-carbon source of energy?

Think of how this makes GPC look, as the supposed party of climate hawks?

If you're a member of GPC, please reconsider. Please support the policy proposal "Withdraw Opposition to Nuclear Power". It is my proposal. I've been a member of GPC longer than I've ever supported nuclear power, but on this topic GPC policy is in error.

It costs us credibility. It costs us votes. And we're impeding the fight against climate change.

Perhaps this helps explain why Dr. Dorfman and I are so strongly (if respectfully) in disagreement about nuclear.

I try to decide the moral qualities of an energy source only AFTER determining its physical & social qualities, not before.

For some the process happens in reverse.

@SenTuberville I'm hoping @sarah_mcfarlane in future reporting you might mention that an alternate fissile, Uranium-233, is currently being destroyed by DOE. It is invaluable.
