Beauty in Darkness: A Lenten Book Club
Sorrow and joy, beauty and darkness, pain and hope - join me for a Lenten journey as we explore This Beautiful Truth...
I have OCD. It's real. God isn't waiting for the mentally ill to get a little more disciplined before he arrives to help. Christ is 'with us' - in our insanity, grief, and despair. He doesn't use illness to train us, he takes it upon himself to heal us.

@andihumphries@joynessthebrave Ha, well, it was a matter of eyeballing - I think two pears, a handful of dried cherries, a good splash of water, several teaspoons of sugar, and a good shake of cinnamon. Adjusted liquid/sugar to sight and taste. It was super easy! (And very good.)

It's always an honour to write for Plough. It's always a wrestle to write about my mental illness, but a gift too as I recognise again the help and beauty I've found.
My Mind, My Enemy
"I still find it hard to describe the experience of mental illness, of having a psyche you cannot control."

@lorewilbert One of the most charming and thoughtful audiobooks I've listened to in awhile (and the reader is superb) is 'The Elegance of the Hedgehog'. Also greatly enjoyed 'Where the Crawdads Sing' as an audiobook. And 'A Prayer for Owen Meany' is long and odd and strangely poignant.
