The United States Mission to Belgium condemns, in the strongest terms, Ghent University’s retaliation against an American scholar following his accurate whistleblower reporting on academic fraud.
The United States government regularly funds and supports research, academic exchanges, and other engagements with overseas universities. Dishonest, corrupt institutions that engage in, or reward, scapegoating mob behavior are not desirable partners for us. This is particularly true where the purpose and effect of the scapegoating is to punish accurate journalism unearthing academic dishonesty. We are therefore reviewing any relationships we have with Ghent University.
Bad-faith idealogues will try to make this a referendum on the content of Cofnas’s scholarship – or polemical distortions of it. That’s wrong. Free speech means that controversial views are protected. And Cofnas’s views were known to Ghent University when he was hired.
The ultimate purpose of freedom of speech is to overturn lies, fraud, and false ideologies. This is precisely what Cofnas was doing, and precisely the reason his home institution wants to silence him.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
@itvracing … running plan for today? Jason Weaver, backed by @chamberlinsport instigate a pile on. Then back it up with click-bait headlines on Socials. Don’t worry about getting the facts first …just speculate like crazy. Punters will love it.
@RacingGav No, that is not a full analysis .. it was a full- on pander to the masses without the benefit of all the information. Trying to make themselves look like they are on the side of punters and not afraid to call out jockeys. Shameful abuse of their position.
@itvracing Unfortunate and pejorative headline. Panel very ready to put boot in without knowing the facts. Jockey says blindfold was not tucked in but perhaps became stuck on cheek pieces. These things happen without it being ‘jockey error’. Pandering to punters? Got to blame someone? Shame
Our horsebox was stolen today from our yard in Exeter Road, Newmarket between 12 noon and 3.30pm. If anyone has any information as to its whereabouts we would be very grateful to hear from you. All shares very much appreciated.
Not only have the BBC ‘not got their trans coverage right’, they have helped cause huge societal problems by getting it wrong.
They (& others like them) have helped create a society where contested fiction has replaced reality, with huge consequence:
▪️Women (& many men!) have been vilified, abused, physically attacked & cancelled for stating reality
▪️Children have been confused and in some cases had their bodies/minds altered, sometimes with life-long consequences
▪️Women have been forced to undress, often unwittingly, in front of males
▪️Crime statistics are inaccurate, attributing crimes to females when they were actually perpetrated by males
▪️Fair female sport has been eroded
▪️Single-sex spaces were basically eliminated
…And the above are just a few examples🤦🏼♀️
There should be a sense of shame attached to this and an immediate change of behaviour by all the organisations that have been doing the same…

A reminder. The BBC worked with a production company for 9 months on the Gaza doc. 9 months of contact - checking sources -asking questions.
They saw nothing wrong. They thought they had an award-winning production. So they published it.
It took me just 3 or 4 hours to work out their star was the son of a Hamas minister.
Which means nobody at the BBC even looked. Nobody. And so they were quickly forced to take down their Hamas propaganda.
This is not just about figureheads. While it is good that Tim Davie and Deborah Turness have gone. The rot @bbcnews is not so easily cleansed.
There are too many people there who actually believe it is okay to lie for their political (or religious) beliefs -and who think they are ethically, morally and intellectually superior to everyone else.
You won't solve that by just replacing someone at the top.
2 days running have had parcels allegedly delivered by EVRI ….but nothing. Both said to be delivered to an outbuilding . One had an accompanying photo of a large box being delivered to a man at a property I’ve never seen before, today not even a photo ..just a gps location 😡🤷🏻♀️

@AtTheRaces A day many of us will not forget; it was very special. He was truly magnificent that day as he had been out in Bahrain earlier in the year. Very pleased that he retires in one piece and can look forward to a second career.

Please share this widely…just in case she is tempted to forget…
Opposing the vile imposition of halal meat is about far more than just the brutal method of slaughter. It’s about the principle of it.
The creeping normalisation of decisions being made for us, without our consent, to appease a Muslim minority at the expense of the majority.
Halal meat is prepared how it is prepared. Slitting the animal’s throat. Letting it bleed to death in the most unimaginable pain. That is a fact.
I want no part of that. I don’t want to eat it. I don’t want to support it. I don’t want to fund it. But what we are seeing, increasingly, is everyone being given no choice but to eat it - in universities like Newcastle, in schools and many other institutions across the country. Our children are being fed halal meat without even telling the parents. It is morally repugnant.
It says to British people: your preferences, your culture, your traditions - they do not matter.
You will eat what you are given, whether you like it or not, because someone, somewhere, has decided it is simpler or more ‘inclusive’ to force everyone to comply with one set of rules.
We all must be offended, so that Muslims are not.
No. This is Britain. We do things a certain way. If you don’t like it, live somewhere else. We treat our animals with care and respect. I am a farmer. It matters to me more than most.
When the animal's inevitable end comes, we want it to be as quick and painless as possible - not inflicting the most cruel and barbaric pain for certain religious reasons.
This is the same pattern we see across so much of public life. British traditions, customs, and ways of life are pushed aside quietly. One at a time, but relentlessly all the same.
This will keep happening until one day we wake up and realise that nothing familiar remains at all.
