last summer i came across so many of the most appalling videos from a TON of groups. this isn’t something that only happens whenever a new video hits your tl, this is constant and ongoing with nearly everybody. idols are VERY comfortable teasing their members about their bodies.
and when i say this is present in many groups i mean MANY. yes fatphobia in general, but specifically bodyshaming towards specific members, usually the ones who struggle the most with their weight. it’s SO common and kpop fans need to figure out how to handle this differently
kpop fans need to start having conversations about how this is present in many many groups. unfortunately this is not a new thing at all, if you’re seeing a group do it for the first time now, usually they’ve actually been doing it for years
online backlash/twitter backlash is just not always enough in some cases, especially when there will always be thousands of fans coming up with various excuses. if an idol has to actually face a fan who is speaking up then that puts pressure on them to truly think about it
it’s definitely not enough time to properly explain the issue to them, but it’s the only time where fans are able to directly confront and make them at least acknowledge the issue. and it has been successful in a few cases so it’s possible.
the only way this will change is if people properly address this and use fancalls/fansigns to ask their idols to stop. but fans have been sweeping this under the rug for years, joining the outrage when it’s another group and then staying silent about their own idols

"he's a pig" "he's swolen" "he's very swolen"??? hoshi fucking fatphobic and dk laughing like it's the most funniest shit. i know those would be the first people to laugh at fat people lol
i quickly deleted the last video because i thought of a very possible explanation for the joke that’s not about his body. with that in mind i don’t want to have the video in the thread because it’s too ambiguous
i’m not going to argue with people anymore because this whole experience has worn me out for a long time. however i do want to mention that moas saw threads like mine being spread in summer 2022 and held spaces. some moas wanted accountability but SO MANY moas degraded those (1)
people and gaslit them until they eventually backed off. a LOT of this behavior came from big accounts too. txt continued to make jokes since those spaces were held but it went ignored. unfortunately this is what happens when you try to sweep things under the rug for so long
please watch the full video as the subtitles are a little hard to describe. initially soobin is alluding to his weight but they both try to change the implication.
210724 ttline - soobin and yeonjun are talking about the part in 0x1 where they lift kai. they say he felt very heavy and use a couple different words to describe it. after kai doesn’t say anything, soobin backtracks and says “but you’re light” and kai says “after that… good”
i know many people were asking me how i expected moas to do anything about this when i posted the thread, now that txt just had a comeback there will be fancalls soon and you guys can try getting someone to talk about this with them
