Thrive Women's Network isn't about fixing things for people or selling a lifestyle, but we believe that as women are listened to and encouraged, their creativity and courage will grow, and when women Thrive, everyone benefits.
Grateful to my rest encouragers - people who make space for me to say “no” or to help me think through small steps to rest. And people who model resting/playing, especially when life is full, hard and often both x
Monday thought: unpaid carers play such a crucial but undervalued role in our society. Parents to children with additional needs, children of elderly parents, those caring for loved ones who are ill or need support, & all the other groups. Respect and admiration for all they do.
Wrote this little poem for all the amazing women who walk ahead of me and inspire me.
"She's Ageing"
She’s told to feel “past it,” but what is she past?
She’s told to “be desirable,” and that desirability doesn’t last….

The same simple things still count: our relationships, listening & connection. Sharing our different experiences & our common humanity. Being intentional, using energy wisely. Rest. Humour, understanding & patience. Kindness. Many things pull us away from these. Keep coming back.
So true. This is often why ‘wellbeing initiatives’ can just feel like another burden to carry. The questions “what do you love” or “what’s feels like it’s brought you life recently and how can I help you make space for these” feel much more relatable…
Also thinking about how the type of rest that actually feels restful can shift so much depending on our season of life, environment, household capacity, what the days either side look like...often on a daily basis.
The more I need rest, the harder it can be to make space for it. Found this refreshing - rest not just as “getting away” or an obvious break (which isn’t often doable) but as a change of pace or a decision to not have to ‘produce’ or prove.
What’s felt restful for you recently?
Play, is resistance.
To take to your streets
To not feel the need to consume to fill the void
To be open to playing with others, not yet known
To be curious
To be joyful
To explore
To challenge
To disturb
To provoke
To question the status quo
"There is a huge pool of exceptionally talented people out there for whom 35-40 hours a week is not an option." Great @ACEVO blog from @juliabeart on how to make part-time working the norm rather than the exception https://t.co/f9nXuyDuIq
The shift from pandemic to post-pandemic is unleashing a lot of pent-up demand, which means people are getting asked to pack even more tasks into their days. Ten things to say besides "yes", for the next time you get asked to do extra work: https://t.co/enQPy9An6A By @ScottEblin
We asked women from a local mental health support network to share their experiences of the last year. We wanted to spend time listening, knowing that those with months to years of mental health challenges have so much we can learn from...
