Letting someone go is the most-dreaded conversations. But as uncomfortable as they can be, these discussions shouldn’t be centered around how YOU feel.
For splitting ways with respect and emotional intelligence.
If it really needs to happen, let’s at least do it properly 🙏🏽
Wishing you a wonderful festive season! Thank you to our wonderful clients and partners for your trust, cannot wait to see what 2022 has in stock for all of us 🎉
🤨 #Disagreement: are open confrontation and debates expected and seen positively or are they inappropriate and a danger to relationships?
⏳ #Time: Is the approach to time linear (time-bound, on-schedule) or flexible (fluid and adaptable)?
#CulturalIntelligence is THE core skill to cultivate in your organisation if you're growing your team across countries!
Most of us like to think that we treat others with consideration, demonstrate common sense and that we communicate effectively. However…
🕸 #DecisionMaking: how much consensus should be sought before making a decision, and are decisions taken by the boss only?
💞 #Trust: do you need to build cognitive trust (task-based, by achieving work together) or affective trust (relationship-based, by sharing personal time)?
Your policies are not meant to pre-empt all the bad things some people could do (you'd always forget something anyway!), but they still need to answer the questions your people have when they decide to read them.
Writing HR policies is an art. You need to find the perfect balance between being overly prescriptive and frustrating people by not providing them with the information they're after. To do this, focus on 3 things:
🐚 Facilitate an inclusive & consistent #EmployeeExperience contributing to your culture;
💡 Provide people with the context they need to make informed decisions autonomously;
👯♂️ Build a common understanding ("reasonable" & "best judgment" mean something different to everyone).
HR processes e.g. performance aren’t a review at the year end anymore but a continuous process. People don't wait 6 months for an answer in any other aspect of daily life, so they're not going to wait 6 months for feedback 🙄 #PeopleOps#CompanyCulture#StartupsHR#Feedback
#StartupsHiring mistake = recruiting people identical to you (affinity bias). Hiring only people you’d be friend with does not bring long term value. You need people aligned on a common mission but w. diff. backgrounds, visions of the world & ways to approach and solve problems.

Organizations need strong, visionary executives. But they also need people who can make their ideas applicable, even if it means steering them in another direction. https://t.co/tBELxiWXYM
