I'd know, spent 3 mio to get that halal certificate for a damn uni project. Even if apparently that's not supposed to happen and it's supposed to be free, having to spend time doing all that might prove disastrous for SMEs. Not saying it's complete bullshit, but it should be free

Why are people missing the damn point. The point is not that the products are non-halal, it's that they need the certificates and inspections. Traditional cakes are inherently halal but they might not have the certificates. And they need to pay to get the certifications.
