@StraightAs123 If Cortes is 3 for 20 in the last week those might as well be Butler ABs if they’re gonna keep him up.
With how obnoxious they are about the leadoff spot, you may as well try him there too.
@StraightAs123 Depress the value of your own assets and products. JJs QO was like 2.75. I can’t see a rational business decision behind that DFA vs other options.
@StraightAs123 Well for me it’s asset valuation. Bleday came for Puk straight up, who was a 6 overall pick. That’s Jacob Wilson level asset value that they DFA’d to keep an MiLB FA and an overpaid late bloomer.
The definition of core player can be flexible, sure, but basic economics says don’t
@StraightAs123 Cortes’ game could fall off a cliff and be an easy DFA too.
That’s where they missed on Butler+Cortes>Bleday. One of those guys is a core player and he ain’t an A anymore. The wrong one got DFAd.
@StraightAs123 Ya. I just mean Cortes is another example. That’s not a core player. That’s a role player. When he performs- maximize it.
If someone wants to make him a core player let them make that mistake and take your trade return. Find a new spare part after.

The Athletics have recalled right-handed pitcher Elvis Alvarado from Triple-A Las Vegas and designated right-handed pitcher Joel Kuhnel for assignment.
No dinner date with the Canucks for Keaton Verhoeff this week.
San Jose and Seattle took the big right shot defender out, though.
Read into that how you will.
@many_styles@SleeperAth I’m not sure what the industry demand would be for Denzel honestly. I think he’s gotta hit .280 at AAA for a bit first to be worth anything to anybody.
@SleeperAth Yup. And if Law is an anchor/McNeil as the bench LHB/UTIL guy, he’s superfluous. Not a core piece. Selling high makes sense if there’s a buyer.
Our list of each system's hottest hitters in May includes three guys who parlayed their torrid month into a big league callup: Jase Bowen, Jonah Cox and Jacob Gonzalez. https://t.co/hFD1gbC4JC
