The stadium was shaking. The crowd was singing. The patriotism was off the charts.

The reason why so many Europeans here for the World Cup want to stay is because they’re not the Europeans we normally get.

Those Europeans hang out in New York City with Americans who wish they weren’t Americans.

What appears to be happening instead with the World Cup is regular Europeans are experiencing regular America and regular Americans.
