@pradeeepk However, tweets from consumers in the Philippines are rare. Shein even withdrew from Indonesia a few years ago. Southeast Asia presents a challenging market for cross-border e-commerce. Even Temu is just cautiously observing.
@pradeeepk I don't think it really reflects 'actual app usage'. Shein is currently in a competitive situation with Shopee in Brazil. SO if you search 'shopee shein' on twitter, you will mostly find tweets from Brazilian consumers discussing.
@pradeeepk Shopee is No.1 in Phillipine and Taiwan. Just ask people living there. No one will tell you Shein or Coupang is beating Shopee. I know you are bearish on $SE but this is no more than FUD
@JonChoivo@ScaleFinX I also wonder if Shopee really needs to focus so aggressively on live-streaming. Eventually, TikTok Shop will likely take some market share. However, it seems clear that TikTok Shop is also running at a loss. Especially in terms of shipping, Shopee is much more cost-efficient
@JonChoivo@ScaleFinX Thanks for the info. As far as I know, there seems to be a 70% discount (capped at 12RM) coupon available now, is that correct? I understand that shipping costs are separate. It's not true that streamers receive nearly $100 in subsidies each time they stream.
@mt_pals@wolfofharcourt I live in Korea and my wife is working for Coupang. Coupang is far behind in taiwan. Shopee and momo are top 2. Ask anyone living in Taiwan. Coupang is only doing cross border Ecom yet.
@SupBagholder The competitive landscape in Brazil's market appears to be less intense compared to Southeast Asia. In Brazil, Shopee charges around a 14% commission fee to sellers, similar to MercadoLibre, whereas in most Southeast Asian countries, the commission is just 5~7%.
@joaomviso@SupBagholder Thank you for the insight! Let me ask one question. Shein and Aliexpress appear to operate in a similar market segment. It seems like Shopee might have a logistical advantage, especially since it doesn't rely on cross-border shipping. What are your thoughts on this?
