🚨 TYRANNICAL AND DISGRACEFUL scenes in Newcastle city centre today, Saturday 13th June. Hundreds gathered to peacefully protest against asylum hotels, but Northumbria Police showed up acting like state-sponsored thugs, turning their violence and aggression directly onto local people and young lads who were simply standing up for their community and our country.

The police went full heavy-handed enforcer mode, slamming a young lad into a wall, punching him in the head, kicking others, and carrying out unlawful arrests with zero justification. Multiple innocent protesters were dragged away for no reason at all while these uniform-wearing tyrants escalated the situation right in front of shocked onlookers. This wasn’t public safety; it was outright state aggression and brutality against ordinary people exercising their basic right to protest.

This is yet another glaring, undeniable example of corrupt two-tier policing in Britain today. Peaceful protesters voicing legitimate concerns about mass immigration and asylum hotels are met with state violence, brute force, and unprovoked arrests, while far-left counter-protesters were actively allowed to attack an elderly woman with absolutely zero intervention from the police.

It’s blatant, it’s completely corrupt, and it’s exactly what is fuelling the anger across the country. Northumbria Police chose to shield the radical left while actively cracking down hard on local citizens. They have proven exactly who they serve, and it certainly isn't the British public.

I’ve never seen such a sickening display on the streets of our city. Young lads just voicing legitimate concerns about mass immigration, hotel accommodations for asylum seekers, and the impact on local communities were manhandled, assaulted, and silenced by the very people who claim to protect us. While the real issues facing our communities get ignored, peaceful voices are met with police boots and fists.

I have multiple videos showing the absolute truth of what happened the heavy-handed tactics, the wall slam, the punches to the head, the attacks on the elderly woman, and the tyrannical behavior of Northumbria Police. This belongs in an authoritarian regime, not a free Britain. Our streets and our people deserve better than this kind of oppressive, state-enforced behaviour.

Around 240 BCE, Eratosthenes of Cyrene produced one of the most remarkable measurements in the history of science: he estimated the circumference of the Earth using sunlight, shadows, geometry, and the known distance between two Egyptian cities.

He had heard that in Syene, near modern Aswan, the Sun shone almost directly overhead at noon on the summer solstice, illuminating the bottoms of deep wells and leaving little or no shadow.

At the same moment in Alexandria, farther north, a vertical stick, or gnomon, did cast a shadow.

That difference was the key.

In Alexandria, Eratosthenes measured the relation between the height of the gnomon and the length of its shadow. From that right triangle, he deduced that the Sun’s rays there made an angle of about 7.2 degrees from the vertical, equivalent to one fiftieth of a full circle.

Since sunlight reaches Earth from such a great distance that its rays are effectively parallel, the angle measured in Alexandria could be interpreted as the angle between Syene and Alexandria at Earth’s centre.

If the distance between the two cities represented one fiftieth of a full circle, then Earth’s total circumference had to be fifty times that distance.

Eratosthenes multiplied the estimated distance from Syene to Alexandria by 50 and obtained a value of about 250,000 stadia.

The exact modern equivalent remains debated because the ancient stadion was not a single fixed unit, but his result was still remarkably close to the true circumference of Earth.

The importance of the calculation lies not only in the numerical result, but in the reasoning behind it.

Eratosthenes transformed a local observation, the length of a shadow in one city and the reported absence of one in another, into a measurement of the entire planet. Without telescopes, satellites, or modern instruments, he showed that the size of Earth could be inferred through careful observation and geometry.

It remains one of the clearest examples of how science can reveal a global truth from simple, ordinary evidence.
