BAN EXPLANATIONS!!!
For those confused on what's going on, there are roughly 4 main types of bans going on and here how to avoid each one.
1. Gambling site bans. It is difficult for Valve to go after unregulated gambling sites. They are currently attempting to and have in the past, but it is so easy to create a site, that it just becomes an infinite cycle. So Valve is banning people who supply and give these sites any inherent value. Are there people getting caught in the cross fire? Yes, clearly. Are you likely to get banned for using these sites? If you deposit or withdraw skins yes. There are a lot of opinions on this, but the SMART thing to do to avoid getting a ban is to simply avoid these sites and people who use them for income.
2. Mass bot reporting. This is a massive issue and unfortunately lots of people are getting affected by this. There is no tried a true way to avoid this other than try to not make enemies or get yourself in a position where you will get mass reported. Unfortunately big collectors and traders are being targeted, simply out of jealousy and possible petty reasons.
3. Commenting and offering "commercial" services. Valve does not like this, so do not comment on someone's profile, "Willing to buy your skins!" There are regulatory reasons behind this and Valve will assume on contact, you are a scammer regardless.
4. Scamming. If you see someone getting banned for strange activities, there is a likely chance they were scamming. Don't scam and don't get scammed, honest traders will always make it in the long run.
Final Comment. Valve has a shoot first and ask questions later mentality. This sucks for the userbase and players as it takes up time on our end, but unfortunately, it is the most efficient way for Valve to deal with bad actors. Valves gambling site user bans are to send a message and make it clear that doing so is breaking TOS and will not be tolerated. While it affects many people I believe it generally is a good thing. I strongly believe whose who are innocent and banned will be reconciled in a matter of time. Feel free to share your thoughts, opinions, and other bans going on which I may have missed, thanks for reading and stay safe out there. <3
Hate to do this, but considering serious offers on my Negev collection. Had some major life events come up and having some extra cash on hand would help greatly.
Listed my entire collection on float, would prefer to sell all in one transaction, prices negotiable. :(
