Quentin Tarantino won't watch Denis Villeneuve's "Dune" movies because "I don’t need to see that story again."
“I saw [David Lynch’s] a couple of times...I don’t need to see a movie that says the word ‘Spice’ so dramatically. It’s one after another of this remake and that remake. People ask have you seen ‘Dune’? Have you seen ‘Ripley?’ Have you seen ‘Shogun’?” And I’m like no, no, no, no. There’s six or seven Ripley books, if you do one again, why are you doing the same one that they’ve done twice already? I’ve seen that story twice before, so I’m not really interested in seeing it a third time. I saw ‘Shōgun’ in the ‘80s. I watched all 13 hours. I’m good. I don’t need to see that story again, I don’t care how they do it. I don’t care if they take me and put me in ancient Japan in a time machine. I don’t care, I’ve seen the story.”

No one is paid what they "deserve." We are paid what we negotiate.
It sucks, but there it is (My wife's a teacher, we are well aware of this.)
The WGA strike is a negotiation. They made an offer. We said no.
It's not part of the culture war. It's not an attack on the free market.
It is the free market.
The same people who profess the virtues of capitalism and "betting on yourself" seem oddly offended when others do just that.
We are negotiating our work contract like anyone would, and everyone should.
We are betting on ourselves.
It feels personal to us because so much is at stake for our families and our profession. It feels personal to them because they're ego-maniacs.
Why it feels personal to other people, I cannot say.
But in the end, it is just a negotiation of a work contract between two parties.
That's it. #WGAStrong
BREAKING: The NLRB has ruled that if bosses commit unfair labor practices in the run-up to a union election then the election will be canceled and the Board will order the employer to immediately recognize and bargain with the union.
Union-busting just got a lot harder.
Breaking news: Tim Ballard has "stepped away" from Operation Underground Railroad, the controversial anti-trafficking group he helped found, a representative for the org confirms to me and @timmarchman. https://t.co/mxx3Uk6w1L
