When so much of the world is chasing after “exponential growth”, we need a remainder of the beauty of things that mature slowly and gradually, things that take time to ferment and nourish, things that require patience as much as drive - an indeed much needed remainder.
The key question about productivity is often not “how to hire more people” or “how to work harder”, but “how to do things in a better way with the number of people and the amount of time you already have”. It’s not about “more”, but “better”. #philosophy
This is why I was deeply intrigued by Indian and Chinese philosophy, such as Buddhism, for a few years. It was not because of meditation, but the fact that ancient Eastern philosophers almost unanimously identified destiny as the fundamental force of nature. #philosophy
What’s interesting is that it actually makes sense to use “simulation” and “stimulation” interchangeably in this context, because the job of the “simulation” *is* to “stimulate” you (the one experiencing the simulation). And this idea makes the theory of simulation even weirder,
The biggest flaw in the theory of stimulation that everyone avoids talking about: is the self, which is experiencing the stimulation, part of the simulation or not? If it is, then what’s even the point of coming up with the theory of stimulation? Since the person theorizing is
part of the stimulation, which he theorizes, does it mean it is the stimulation itself stimulating the theory of stimulation? The whole thing seems like circular reasoning. If the self experiencing the stimulation is not part of the stimulation, then there is at least
A common misconception regarding destiny: you are a slave of destiny, you are “controlled” by it. That’s not what I mean here. I mean: you ARE destiny. And since destiny is not constrained by any external factors, neither are you. #philosophy
Destiny is the only thing there really is. When you act upon your free will, you execute the will of Nature. Or, the will of Nature manifests itself via you. #philosophy
Great friendships/relationships compound over time and yield exponential returns. Bad/toxic friendships/relationships become greater and greater liabilities over time. If a friendship/relationship is not working/beneficial, exit as early as possible. If a friendship/relationship
