Edgar Morin has died.

It is because of him that I now consider the p2p economy, a complexity economy.
For us, Sensoricans, Morin lives through Nondominium as his insights are now deeply manifested in the architecture and the code itself.
I "met" him last year,
took him (his papers) with me on my trip to Ontario. Spent time talking to him while looking out through the window of my shack, deep into the woods. Rolled meandering dirt roads on a bike together, immersed in the complexity of nature, passing through forests, near lakes, rock formations, wondering what the birds were saying and where the butterflies were going.
After I came back to Montreal, he inspired me to write a few blogs. He sparked passionate discussions on our Friday gatherings. He triggered an avalanche of edits on the OVN wiki.
Morin lives through the OVN model.

He was 105 years old.

The World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization !?

My 2 negative reactions.
(I don't get easily impressed by the marketing side of such initiatives)

1. Don't trust China with AI, because you'll get mass surveillance and planned economy.
2. Don't trust States with AI, because by now we understand that they are all interested in their self-preservation, which means that you'll also get mass surveillence (ex. CBDC, Digital ID, etc.)

AI affects Humanity as a whole and it is about time we realize that we can now coordonate globally, in p2p fashion.
We the people of the world must steward AI!
First, we need to continue to develop p2p open source AI. Second, we need to govern it as we govern our shared global blockchain infrastructure (Ethereum, Bitcoin, etc.).

Stop pretending that the State is sovereign and you're a simple citizen. YOU are sovereign!

Stop pretending that we need the State to mediate our affairs, to coordinate society. We've already demonstrated with crypto that we don't need the State, at least in finance. Global transnational (beyond the influence of the State) coordination is now a reality in almost all spheres of human activities.

Listen, at some point in our history people thought that the world cannot function without the Church and a Monarch. People were afraid of self-governance.
It's time to imagine ourselves Stateless, living in peace in a p2p world :)

If you think you're a slave you'll remain a slave.
If you think you're sovereign and you have the means to live on your own, you'll be free.

For the first time, China has transformed a global AI-governance initiative into an international organization founded on an intergovernmental agreement, with a governing council, member contributions and the potential for a permanent secretariat. One year after proposing the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization in Shanghai in July 2025, China has turned the initiative into an institutional entity.

The timing carries clear political significance. The signing ceremony took place one day before the opening of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference on July 17, where Xi Jinping is scheduled to deliver a keynote address. July 16 establishes the organization’s legal and institutional foundations. July 17 gives it political direction and a global narrative at the highest level of the Chinese state.

Industrial-era millitary power is over. Ladies and gentlemen, here's the new army of gamers, makers and hackers.

Some say that the time of giant empires (USA) is over. Even the multi-polar world (USA, Russia, China, ..), i.e. a world dominated by only a few powers that agree on zones of influence and dominate other vassal states is just a pipedream. That's because these small states ca always overwhelm these powerful states by coordinating against them in a way that John describes.
This is consistent with the emergence of p2p. A global p2p society can only exists if the large millitary clusters dissolve. Evidently they are doing so, as they are apparently becoming ineffective against swarms of low tech intelligent weapons that anyone can make.
If you search the internet you'll find makers thickening with smart rackets and drones that can be easily turned into high precision weapons.
Small States can gang up of superpowers. But at the same time States are also threatened from within: it's just a matter of time before we see a popular revolt where people overwhelm their Government with such tech. States are still trying to take away people's guns. Meanwhile, kids are 3D printing and playing with smart delivery systems that are much more potent than guns.

Many have termed our condition as “liminal,” by which they mean “in-between.” Between one world and another.

The P2P (i.e. peer-to-peer) Foundation has built a significant following. Its founder suggests that Catholic Social Teaching is the closest approach to date for what he envisions. The experiment called “Game-B” (drawing on shifts in “basins of attraction” taken from Complexity Theory) is steadily gaining adherents. Many schemes for “circular economies” have been proposed. “Cooperatives” have been studied and promoted, along with other efforts at wealth/ownership redistribution. “Capitalism,” as it has been known through many changes of its own, is widely viewed as finished. “Socialism,” in its many varieties, no longer has concrete appeal, despite polling favorably with young demographics — minus the details. The thirst for something quite new (i.e. none-of-the-above) is palpable."
