Ritchie Blackmore, Roger Glover, Ian Gillan, Ian Paice, and Jon Lord recorded that album following the fire at the Montreux Casino, which occurred during a Frank Zappa concert, the incident that inspired “Smoke on the Water.”

Having lost their recording studio, the band used that truck, equipped as a mobile studio and set up by the Stones to record in unconventional locations, to complete the album. They ended up recording it at various locations around the city, including a hotel that was nearly empty due to the off-season.

"Machine Head" became one of the most influential albums in Rock History.
