South Korea showed me what becomes possible when information, institutions and digital services are connected.

Malawi showed me the cost when they are not.

Jobs, scholarships, grants, tenders, businesses and public notices exist, but they are often scattered across WhatsApp groups, Facebook pages, posters and personal networks.

Too often, access depends on who you know, what page you follow or whether the information reaches you before the deadline.

That gap inspired me to build Mthandizi — a trusted digital information and action ecosystem for Malawi. 🇲🇼

Mthandizi does more than help people find information. It gives them the tools to act on it.

• Users discover opportunities, receive alerts and apply
• Businesses build a digital presence and reach customers
• Organizations publish trusted information and manage applicants
• Approved contributors organize useful community information and earn from their contribution

In its first four months, Mthandizi has:

✅ Registered more than 1,000 users
✅ Enabled more than 48,000 internal searches
✅ Given 158 businesses a structured digital presence
✅ Achieved 91,300 Google Search impressions
✅ Generated 5,860 organic clicks
✅ Created three direct jobs in Malawi

One of the achievements I am most proud of is that Mthandizi has already created three direct jobs in Malawi.

That means Mthandizi is not only helping people find opportunities. It is also becoming an employer and creating new pathways for young Malawians to participate in the digital economy through information contribution, moderation, onboarding, marketing and technology.

We are still at the beginning, but the foundation is real.
