In a surprise turn of events, Zanu PF spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa has come out guns blazing defending "Zvigananda" - the nouveau riche and tenderpreneuers - accused by Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga during the politburo meeting last week of being corrupt, tarnishing the party and destroying the economy.
The nouveau riche are people who have recently acquired their wealth, typically those perceived as ostentatious or lacking in good taste.
Tenderpreneuers are people who make money from tenders instead of entrepreneurship.
Mutsvangwa said this while addressing a press conference earlier in the afternoon where he defended a small club of cash-rich Zanu PF-aligned businessmen, some of them patronage-based tenderpreneuers, fronts and runners, around Mnangagwa.
In so doing, Mutsvangwa presented a direct counter-narrative to Chiwenga's accusations of corruption against multi-millionaire tycoon Kudakwashe Tagwirei, the main Zanu PF benefactor, and others during the party's politburo meeting on Wednesday last week.
Chiwenga fiercely attacked Tagwirei, Wicknell Chivayo, Pedzisayi "Scott" Sakupwanya and others accusing them of corruption and looting, saying they must be arrested.
However, in the press briefing, Mutsvangwa said:
"There are persistent efforts from detractors who are throwing cobwebs for us to witch-hunt ourselves. They want to push an agenda that only a colonial economy can function. We have showed that we can defy that false narrative. The world has changed now you get capital in Sao Paulo ,Riyadh or Mumbai because of the emergency of new capital markets.

President Mnangagwa killed the smuggling of gold. Zimbabwe is producing 51 tonnes of gold per annum.
Some of the young people who have made money such as Scott Sakupwanya are playing a big role in empowering other young people who are mining gold to get a fair price after production."
Previously, Mutsvangwa viciously attacked Tagwirei accusing him of trying to use his money which he says he got through Zanu PF to buy positions and the party leadership.
