@bruntonbugle@officialcufc Think both decisions make sense. Hughes steadied the ship but didn't inspire the fans. Elliott looks a positive choice, saying all the right things and will hopefully be able to bring in players to suit his style quickly. Not another MW despite the lazy comparisons
@joncolman@newsandstar@ben_holmes33 Sensible decisions. Hughes wasn't quite delivering though I think he was up against it with some of the players signed before he joined. Hopefully Elliott will know 3-4 players he wants who will suit his style. He's saying all the right things so good luck to him.
@FtblJosh9@parkinsonross Your "very ambitious" team has the same midfield that was regularly outplayed by the top teams this season, one of whom won't be for until 2027.
@joncolman@newsandstar No real surprise, to be honest I wouldn't have been bothered if Macadam had been released as well as I think we should be able to do a lot better. Plenty of scope to bring some decent signings in now
@bruntonbugle I thought you said nobody mentioned Thomas in the worst player category!
And a prediction for next season, if Macadam is a regular starter for us next season, we won't get promoted.
@Jonnyreay Good to hear you raising the issue of Wearne's lack of G/As and the way Phillips totally dismissed it by saying he's a different type of player to Brunt. I know which one the vast majority of fans would prefer!
@Halpinforpope Agreed, he was regularly having to drop into his own half to get the ball, needs defenders/midfielders who can find him higher up the pitch.
@DanTakesOnFooty Agreed on most but disagree on Mugabi, Gilliead, Macadam, Whelan, Wearne, Luamba & Williams. Our midfield this season was really average so having them all here at the start of next season is a depressing prospect
@bbccumbriasport Amazing reactions from a fanbase that still revels in Prokas' cowardly assault on Viera all those years ago. It was a poor challenge but it was a harsh red card cos he barely touched their player. His reaction plus other players charging up to the ref got him sent off.
@tashkentterror That summer's recruitment really was a disaster and has hampered us ever since. Surprised people are so desperate to keep Macadam, he looks a level below anything other top teams have got and I struggle to think of a game he's dominated against top half opposition
@fduffy123@bbccumbriasport He was holding his shin, they showed him a couple of minutes after and there wasn't as much as a scratch on him. He jumped out the way of a reckless challenge but there's no way he was as hurt as he pretended or he'd be in the Cumberland infirmary now waiting for an X-ray
@fduffy123@bbccumbriasport He jumped up as soon as the red card came out. He was sprinting around within a minute of play restarting. It was a silly challenge but barely touched him
@joncolman@newsandstar Tepid performance, too many players had off days and the tactics allowed BW to keep possession at will. 2nd half they were clearly tiring but we didn't take advantage. Think Hughes has to go, not so much on the season as a whole but because we've been well off rest of top 4
