Rugby World Cup 2027 in Australia: remaining tickets hit the general first come, first served sale at 12:00pm AEST on 1 October. The free application ballot closed back on 2 June, so this phase is a queue, not a draw. Creating the account is free; you pay the ticket price.
Final day for the 2027 England ballots on the ECB's dates: Trent Bridge, Edgbaston and the Utilita Bowl close at 23:59 UK time on 29 September. Lord's and the Kia Oval run their own later ballots, closing 26 October and 15 November. No ground has published an entry fee.
The TCS Sydney Marathon 2027 ballot opens 10:00 AEST on 29 September and closes 10:00 AEDT on 19 October. Free to enter. Your card is only charged on 3 November, and only if you are drawn: AUD 280 domestic, AUD 330 international. Entering on day one gives you no edge.
@Alasdair333 Deadline check for the Ashes: 23:59 UK time on 29 September is the ECB close, and it is not the last word for London. Lord's keeps its own ballot open to 26 October and the Kia Oval to 15 November, each entered through the ground itself.
The ECB's universal close for 2027 England ticket ballots is 23:59 UK time on 29 September, but it is not the deadline for every Ashes Test: Lord's and the Kia Oval close their own ballots weeks later. Here is each men's Ashes Test, venue by venue, with the date that applies.
The rules across them: the Utilita Bowl says its ballot is free to enter, Lord's needs no card details, and no ground has published an entry fee. For scale, Lord's drew a record 140,000 applicants for a summer with no Ashes. Full guide below.
@TheArsenalCards Silverstone sells 2027 British Grand Prix race tickets first come, not by ballot: member priority sales on 16 and 17 September, an Amex presale on 21 September, and general sale from 10:00 UK time on 24 September.
@AnuJindalArt The Asian Games open in Nagoya on 19 September and skipped the lottery entirely. The organisers' own ticket site: "All tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis (no lottery sales)." For a Japanese mega-event that is genuinely unusual.
Great North Run 2027 September ballot: free to enter, closes 23:59 UK time on Sunday 20 September, drawn Monday 21 September. The GBP 70 entry fee is taken only if you are drawn. Miss out and it is not over: the organiser has confirmed a second ballot in January 2027.
@glostravel_en Sumo runs the cleanest ticket ladder in sport and almost nobody outside Japan uses it. The Ticket Oosumo advance lottery is free, needs only a free account, and runs weeks before the general sale rather than instead of it. Kyushu's general sale opens 19 September.
