4/ "You used the wrong rules" is fair.

Under other reasonable rules, 88% to 98% of stock-days kept the same phase. Still our construction. We didn't test volume confirmation, so no claim on that.

3/ What phases do describe:

• Typical rising spell: 63 trading days. Falling: 55.
• Half of rising spells ran 31 to 118 days.
• 2021: 72% of stock-days rising. 2018: only 23% (40% falling).

2/ Short answer: no.

Over the next three months, the median stock in each phase lagged the NIFTY 500 by about as much as the median top-500 stock.

A phase tells you where a trend has been. Not where it goes next.
