Yeh I haven't been in the scene for long and its actually really sad that it still is an issue π
100% agree with balancing aswell its a super gray area and people's egos will get hurt but sometimes I think it is a necessary thing ya know. If you want a truly fair and balanced tournament especially with lots of money on the line, unfortunately this is the only way I see it working.
Unless you just do party games like hide and seek and stuff then balancing isn't really needed π€£
To be fair I didn't really have a super big problem with the balancing my main issue was the lack of marketing with the tournament in question, no main broadcast and 1 twitter post for a 25K$ tournament is crazy work.
ALSO IT'S INSANE, can't believe they didn't let THEE DASHU FROM JAPAN IN π€ π€£
I just gotta get this off my chest, sometimes I really lose hope in Apex when they choose to invest in influencers from other games. I don't inherently think its a bad idea its actually good, but you just have to approach it in a better way not just "here is 25K$ make a Apex Legends tournament and promote our game."
Obviously I don't know the full story but from an outside prospective this is what it looks like to me. The whole point of this creator tournament was to engage with an audience outside of Apex Legends, but when the tournament is barely marketed (with 1 twitter post and people sub retweeting it) it gives off the impression to me that there isn't any passion for it at all.
Balancing the teams in a tournament is essential to make it fun for everyone, obviously you can't make everyone happy but that comes with the territory. Balancing is always the hardest part of making a tournament because sometimes you just don't have enough people to fill the slots and keep it balanced BUT when you do have the numbers and a lot of people interested then it becomes way easier to balance the teams. That being said I feel that ranks hold less value then people think in Apex Legends, just because someone has peaked a rank doesn't mean they are at that skill level. Sure I have peaked Masters quite a few times but I don't see myself at that skill level. For a tournament to be properly balanced a lot of things have to be taken in to consideration not just "what rank are you"
Would love if future Apex Legends Creator tournaments especially if its a creator from outside Apex followed just 2 simple steps:
-Market the tournament (To build hype for viewers, would benefit everyone evolved)
-Properly balance the tournament (Use a points system for each rank and manually evaluate everyone's skill)
Obviously there is a lot more that goes into making a tournament but these are the two most important things and I don't know why none of these wouldn't be done especially with tournaments that have larger prize pools.
Not throwing shade at anyone, just want to provide my thoughts on the situation to hopefully better Apex Legends Creator tournaments for the future really want this game to shine as it deserves so much more.
