In 1976, Mark "The Bird" Fidrych put together a historic rookie season for the Tigers. 

On his way to AL Rookie of the Year honors, he became just the second Tigers player aged 21 or younger to make the All-Star team, following Al Kaline in 1955. Kevin McGonigle joined this group by making the 2026 All-Star team, 50 years after Fidrych.
