A father and son were on their way back to Spain after attending a Liverpool game at Anfield. As they boarded the plane, the son spotted someone familiar.

"Dad, there's Fernando Torres over there!"

The father wasn't having it. A star like Torres on EasyJet? No chance. Then the son pointed directly at the seat Torres was sitting in, and the father had to compose himself rather quickly.

He went over and asked for an autograph for his boy. Torres got up, came over to the child, had a proper chat with him and signed it. The son wanted a photo too, but they were already on board, so Torres promised he would take one at the airport once they landed.

Torres was on his way to link up with the Spanish national team, with an official car waiting for him the moment they arrived. Time was not on his side.

To make things worse, the father and son had to hunt down a lost bag containing their camera. After more than 20 minutes, the father turned to his son and said: "A superstar like Torres cannot wait more than 20 minutes for us." He had accepted it was not happening.

They went to the spot Torres had promised anyway, just on the off chance.

He was still there. Waiting. Just like he said he would be.
