We’re almost 9 hours into Free Agency tampering.

The Cowboys traded a 4th round pick for Edge Rusher, Rashan Gary.

The Cowboys signed safety, Jalen Thompson who was considered a top safety in free agency for 36 mil over 3 years.

This is significantly different than years past of day 1.

Did the spend like the Titans / Raiders? No. Do you know why? Because it’s not needed.

Cowboys now have addressed two positions of need on day 1. And oh by the way, switching to that 3-4 base already shows you they have guys like Donavan Ezeiruaku who will be shifting to that OLB spot along with having guys like Overshown (MLB) Liafau (OLB) and even Shamar James & James Houston.

Their DT’s to me are quite good. Osa, Clark, and Quinnen Williams.

Their CBs worry me some being lead by Bland. I like Revel to take a big step in year 2.

I expect the Cowboys to address LB on day 2 of FA along with CB.

I expect the Cowboys to address CB in the draft. And I expect pick #20 to be the other position of what they don’t draft at #12 — 2 first rounders, defense and defense. Edge / CB / LB are priority to me.

The Cowboys are in a much better spot defensively on March 9th, 2026 than they were on March 9th 2025.

Call me painfully optimistic but I think the Cowboys will have a defense we don’t have to cringe when they step on the field in September.
