The 40-hour workweek hits differently when 40 hours doesn't pay the bills.
That's the part nobody wants to talk about.
People will tolerate a lot when they feel like they're getting somewhere.
Long days. Hard work. Commutes. Stress.
But sacrifice without progress eventually starts feeling like stupidity.
Work five days then discover you still can't afford anything.
People aren't questioning work because they suddenly became lazy.
They're questioning what they're getting in return.
Working five days a week is wrecking my life. I hate squeezing my entire life into a two-day weekend because I'm too exhausted to do anything after work. I can't believe this is considered "normal."
73% of women on the titanic survived.
Only 19% of men did.
Read that again.
Even the richest men alive, class, power, status, all useless when the ship started sinking.
Hierarchy collapsed.
Gender didn’t.
“Women and children first”
Not a suggestion.
A rule men didn’t break.
Men stood there.
No panic
No begging.
Just accepted it.
They didn’t ask:
“Do I know her?”
“Is she worth it?”
“Will she remember me?”
No one asked if it was fair.
No camera.
No applause.
No second chances.
Zero return.
Full cost.
Understand this:
When survival gets limited, a man’s life becomes negotiable.
Men like that built the world.
And today?
Masculinity gets mocked.
Call it whatever you want.
But when everything collapsed, men paid first.
This isn’t opinion.
This is history.
Nobody wants to work anymore.
CORRECT. No one wants to work 50 hours a week for a salary that hasn't kept up with inflation since 1979, pay 40% of it in rent, get 10 days PTO, no sick days, no pension, no job security, and be told they're replaceable at any moment.
You solved it. That's the full sentence.
I don’t want a different job. I don’t want a better position or a new career path. I want out. Out of the endless grind, the constant pressure, the productivity treadmill, and this entire system that expects us to work until we’re too exhausted to live.
It's really too bad because we could have built a world where we work a little bit but mostly just hang out and have a good time but instead we got this shithole
I hate work.
Like, I HATE work.
Not necessarily my job. I hate the whole fking system of waking up at the same time, driving to the same place, doing the same shit for five days straight just to earn two days of “freedom” that I’m too exhausted to actually enjoy.
Saturday is spent recovering.
Sunday is spent thinking about Monday.
Then Monday comes, and we do the whole damn thing AGAIN.
I’m not lazy. I work. I show up. I handle my sh*t.
I just refuse to believe we were put on this earth to spend most of our lives waiting for the weekend.
