@WNBA What exactly is this supposed to mean? After a play that left Sophie Cunningham bleeding, posting “8/23 😁” is extremely concerning.
What exactly is being implied here? Because if that date refers to their next meeting, this looks disturbingly like a warning. Where is the accountability? Where is your supposed commitment to player safety? Address it.
@justmew7777@IndianaFever@sophaller Sophie, tons of people love and support you. God protect you always. People who choose ugly behavior eventually have to live with the consequences of it.
Your coach Steph White @IndianaFever, praised the offender who did this and said it wasn’t intentional, this statement alone is criminal and should be investigated. Imagine you are Sophie and your coach say too bad, shut up and wipe it off. WTF?! THIS!!
Absolute fucking disgrace. How many of your own players have to get hurt before you finally stand up for them? If you can’t even defend your team when it matters, you have no business being their coach. You should be fucking fired.
@IndianaFever This team deserves better than this absolute joke of coaching.
You should be fucking ashamed of yourself. This kind of behavior has no place in professional basketball, and the WNBA needs to make an example of it before someone gets seriously hurt. @WNBA Suspend her for the rest of the season. No excuses, no minimizing it, no bullshit justification. If the league actually cares about player safety, there need to be serious consequences for crossing a line like this.
Spoiler: By Tuesday, DiJonai Carrington is going to claim people are sending her mean tweets and the media is going to demand Sophie Cunningham condemn it.
That’s how they will spin the story away from Carrington’s foul and post.
It’s what happens every time.
@WNBA@IndianaFever How exactly does this align with your standards on player safety? A player leaves the play bleeding from the mouth, and her own head coach publicly minimizes the severity of what happened and defends the opposing player involved.
If player safety and accountability actually mean anything, this should be completely unacceptable. What kind of message does this send to players across this league? This is an absolute disgrace and it deserves to be addressed. @StephanieWhite you should be ashamed.
@StephanieWhite Even if you didn’t agree with the Flagrant 2 call, why would you say that publicly? Seriously. Sophie is YOUR player. She was the one who got hurt, and that’s who you should’ve been standing up for.
You can have whatever opinion you want about the call, but there was absolutely no reason to go out there and defend the other player while Sophie is the one bleeding. Read the room and have your own player’s back for once. It’s honestly embarrassing that this even needs to be said.
@WNBA@IndianaFever At what point does this become unacceptable enough to demand accountability from Stephanie White?
Sophie Cunningham was left bleeding from the mouth, and her own head coach chose to publicly defend the player responsible for the play rather than unequivocally stand behind her own player.
That is an appalling failure of judgment, leadership, and responsibility. A head coach who cannot stand up for her own players when their safety is at issue has no business leading this team. The Fever organization needs to seriously reconsider whether Stephanie White should remain in this position. This is disgraceful.
Sophie was bleeding from her mouth, yet you chose to publicly defend the player who put her in that position. That is an appalling failure of judgment and leadership.
If you cannot unequivocally stand behind your own player in a moment like that, you have seriously lost sight of what leadership is supposed to look like. Absolutely disgraceful.
@StephanieWhite Sophie had BLOOD coming out of her mouth, and you still found a way to defend the player responsible for that dangerous play. Are you fucking serious?
That is YOUR player. Your job is to protect and stand up for your team, yet somehow Sophie gets hurt badly enough to have blood coming from her mouth, and instead of being furious for HER, her own coach is busy showing sympathy for the other player. What an absolute fucking disgrace. How about having Sophie’s back for once instead of rushing to defend everybody except your own player?
