To the good people of Oyo State, thank you for your patience and support. As I have always said, we are here to serve you and we will always act in your best interests.
Earlier today, we visited the victims of the Oriire LGA kidnapping incident where they are receiving treatment in Ibadan. We will continue to provide the necessary support needed for their full recovery and reunite them with their families.
We also remember civilians and military personnel who lost their lives during this process, our administration will ensure that they did not die in vain. May their souls rest in peace and may God continue to comfort their families.

The Oyo State Government has signed a N5 Billion investment deal with SystemSpecs “Whatadeal” Limited to upgrade Bower’s Tower, transforming the historic site on Oke-Are Hill into a world-class tourism destination.
The 15-year concession deal was signed at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, with the Oyo State Investment and Public-Private Partnership Agency (OYSIPA) coordinating the public sector side of the partnership.
Under the terms of the agreement, SystemSpecs “Whatadeal” Limited has been granted up to 24 months to carry out a comprehensive rehabilitation and modernisation of the facility to meet global tourism standards. The 15-year concession period will commence when the site is fully operational and commercially viable.
OYSIPA Director-General, Mr Tilewa Folami, noted that the concession includes a revenue-sharing model between the State and the concessionaire, designed to deliver sustainable financial returns for both parties while preserving long-term value for Oyo State.
The initiative is part of a broader strategy to unlock the economic potential of underutilised public assets through public-private partnerships, attracting investment, increasing tourism traffic, stimulating surrounding businesses and creating employment opportunities, particularly for young people.
Bower's Tower has stood on Oke-Are Hill since 1936.
Thoroughly enjoyed the conversation about industrialisation and leadership in Africa which took place yesterday at @HarvardBizGov. I had to field tough questions about continuity from a well-informed and diverse audience.
Prior to the conversation, I had delivered a presentation themed “From First Office to Lasting Impact: Industrialisation, Leadership, and the Discipline of Continuity”. Read my full presentation here https://t.co/bGe8XBdwxf
Yesterday, on the sidelines of the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Forum, we met with Jamie Cooper, founding Chair and President of Big Win Philanthropy, a charitable foundation which partners with African leaders to transform the lives of children and young people.
In Oyo State, Big Win Philanthropy is interested in tourism specifically the creative industry and its potential to create jobs for young people. They are also interested in urban renewal supporting the pre-construction phase of the 110 km Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project development corridor as well as galvanising investors for it.
I’m happy to report that the Oyo State Government is the first sub national they have engaged and they plan to use this as entry point to engage more sub national governments.
Pleased to have been part of the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Forum which took place 19-22 April 2026. As part of the programme, I was privileged to meet various leaders including former president of Tanzania His Excellency Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete. Part of the requirement for the programme was outlining the legacy goals of our administration by looking at the top priorities of the government, the top priorities of citizens and how our administration has worked to address both.

2. The 25-Year Tourism Master Plan Committee, a forward-looking committee to create a master plan that will guide decisions, shape investments, and outlive administrations in Oyo State.
As I said in my remarks, this is serious work and will require active participation and my expectation is that members of both committees will put in their best to make these projects work for the good people of Oyo State.

They also expressed a strong interest in airport cargo and agro logistics tied to the upgrade of Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport to an international airport which is currently ongoing. We assured them that Oyo State is ready for international development cooperation and investments and that our administration will ensure that we support interested investors to establish businesses in our State.
On Thursday, 28 August 2025, we were in Paris where we met with Mouvement des entreprises de France (MEDEF), the largest employer federation in France comprising over 750,000 member firms. The goal is clear: to build a tourism economy that funds itself and funds our future.
“The future of heritage is not nostalgia.
It is strategy.
And in Oyo State — it is investable.”

Yesterday, I donated N1 million to the Irefin family for the continued maintenance of the historic Irefin Palace in Ibadan.
I was saddened by the visible signs of neglect. The Irefin Palace is over a hundred years old, home to 125 rooms, and is regarded as the oldest palace in Ibadan. It deserves to be preserved.
My visit was a part of the #ITSOyoState2025 tourism investment summit led by @OYSGTourism. Shout out to @tfolatunbosun and @tilewafolami for giving us a good time
