Trying a new idea. My students struggle with Edexcel narratives. So I get them to highlight what words relate to Q1 and Q2 and scratch out non-relevant. Then they plan their paragraphs using the words and any extras that fit the paragraphs. https://t.co/f4pAUWqLSr #historyteacher
Love what the students do for this GCSE Anglo Saxons lesson on law & order. If you want the A3 PDF worksheet, it's here: https://t.co/nvecsvhy4T or the full lesson: https://t.co/O2VNkwWAuq #historyteacher
Something new I'm trying, which I'm sure I've inadvertently pinched from @mrfitzhist. The students use this to select the best evidence for each of the 12-mark GCSE questions. https://t.co/kKtdPNk7pq They will then choose one to write in the lesson. #historyteacher
Sorry to anyone who could not get the GCSE Nazi Germany wall display! Not sure why the link broke. Here's the new link 👍https://t.co/Htppuk4qgT #historyteacher
Creeping ever closer to the first History GCSE exam. This ‘if faced with’ document went down a storm with students and I’ve made the Edexcel adaptations for 2025. Here’s hoping it can be useful to many again! Often saw these being used the morning of the paper. #historyteacher
Settler tasks have always been an essential part of my classroom practice. I've been thinking about them recently and tried to come up with some ways to vary them. Here are 7 different ideas which I hope may help you https://t.co/vbDdroDyjX

The reposts and likes have motivated me to push on especially from the authors themselves thanks @C_Hendrick and @P_A_Kirschner, Also a shout out to @MrMetacognition and @AlexJQuigley whose recent books helped me turn the research into practice for the metacognition page
I’ve been working on our Tudor Y7 assessment and have stumbled across the resources from @HRP_palaces. Put simply they are superb, accessible and beautifully put together. If you haven’t had a look, there is a treasure trove to be had. #historyteacher

Another clip sheet for the BBC’s Bloody Queen’s - Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots. This is perfect for telling the story of the monarchs relationship and how this soured over time. Clips can be delivered in chunks/paused to encourage discussion/questioning. #historyteacher
Never underestimate the beautiful illustrations a textbook can offer to aid storytelling/engage recall. I used the @HodderHistory Early Elizabethan textbook to create ‘Answer the talk of the town’. Students dealt with the statements and explained/countered. #historyteacher
It’s a mammoth job and it’ll never be perfect or finished. However, we are chipping away at our curriculum construction. We’ve tried to outline as many aspects of our provision as possible from second order concepts to key vocabulary. This is a Y7 taster! #historyteacher
This is another display I've been working on for Nazi Germany. It's an epic timeline for a long wall! #historyteacher Download it here: https://t.co/IDDyuSKN1l
Still absorbing @Counsell_C recent article on assessment in History. However, we have initiated some immediate changes via the practical formats offered in the piece. Most notably enhancing the presence of story/interpretation as a method of evaluating knowledge. #historyteacher
Lots of opportunity at the moment to push further reading. From Y11 who want a change from revision guides to Y9 keen to make a start after options. Having the ‘Going Beyond GCSE’ recommendations at hand to email/display is a solid way to tap into student interest #historyteacher
I've just found out that Pearson (Edexcel) have a mock marking service. Papers are marked and sent back with analysis to help teaching.
Also a moderation service.
This could be really useful for some centres/subjects.
