Newton Community School District was awarded the inaugural Iowa Purple Star School designation today for their outstanding support of military-connected students. Newton received the Iowa Purple Star School designation for two schools, Berg Middle School and Newton High School. Superintendent Tom Messinger accepted the official award for the district.
