Despite its cheeky title ("Not so FAST"), this study on #ultrasound for traumatic PTX is of such poor methodologic quality that its conclusions are not valid.

1st it purports to report diagnostic accuracy. It's not designed as a study of diagnostic accuracy.

3. Able to define the testis & epididymis?
4. Transilluminable?
5. Tender?

Many–for whichever reason–still defend the ridiculous thousands-of-dollars #APCs to publish #OpenAccess.

The profit margins of the publishing world are incredibly high (that is capitalism for you), APC discounts/waivers rare, and yet few journals push back.
