WisprFlow just raised $80M.
I built the same product in a weekend.
Not the business. Not the sales team. Not the compliance infrastructure.
The actual product. The part that listens to your voice and turns it into clean, usable text.
Here's what that taught me about building in 2026 โ
๐๏ธ YaprFlow is a Mac app that transcribes your voice locally. No cloud. No API calls. No subscription.
Press Cmd+T โ talk โ see text appear live in your menu bar โ Cmd+T again โ clean, summarized text in your clipboard.
The "clean" part is what nobody else does locally.
I added an open-source LLM (Qwen 2.5 1.5B) that runs entirely on your Mac. It removes the "ums," fixes grammar, and pulls out summaries before you paste.
"So I talked to Sarah and, uh, lunch moved to Thursday I think?"
Becomes: "Lunch moved to Thursday."
All offline. All private. All free.
The Stack:
โข Parakeet transcription (6% error, streams live โ better than Whisper)
โข Qwen 2.5 1.5B for cleanup (Apache 2.0, runs on Neural Engine)
โข SwiftUI (~750 lines, one weekend with AI assistance)
Total cost to build: $0 (open source models + existing laptop)
So what did the $80M actually buy?
Not the technology. That part is free now.
It bought:
โ iOS, Android, Windows, Linux teams
โ Enterprise sales & compliance (HIPAA, SSO, audit logs)
โ Brand & trust signals ("backed by Andreessen Horowitz")
โ Humans who answer emails when things break
The gap between "technically possible" and "business viable" is still massive.
But the first half? That's now solo-builder territory.
WisprFlow raised $80M.
I built the same product in a weekend.
Local transcription (Parakeet) + on-device LLM cleanup (Qwen 2.5). Mac only. Free. ~750 lines.
The $80M wasn't for the code. Here's what one person can ship now โ

I'm excited to announce https://t.co/ZPtjdlo1L5 - a @NotionHQ template powered by an Email API to be able to collect, manage, send & track emails from Notion.
Since a lot of companies already use Notion to manage their personal & work lives, Notion seemed like a perfect place to store other data as well where you can easily create beautiful emails while https://t.co/ZPtjdlo1L5 handles the hard parts of managing it all!
What's your go-to stack to get a landing page up quickly? Mine is plain HTML + Tailwind CDN + https://t.co/ZPtjdlo1L5 + Github pages to host it for free and collect emails in Notion in just a few minutes
