Very proud of my mum, who has won re-election for the second time as an independent councillor in North Tyneside. No party machine, just really hard work on behalf of her residents year-round - as seen in the fact that her vote and % share went up despite more parties standing.
🇬🇧 Energy bills did not used to be cripplingly high. Houses did not used to be this expensive. Childcare used to be more financially manageable.

@ThemanfromK Good morning - You are right, they are certainly not in Nato. The story says: "By contrast, Poland – which neighbours Ukraine and Russia’s ally Belarus – has climbed Nato’s rankings." https://t.co/w0KE7FjQhz
Why is the electorate so boiling with rage at the political class? This line from @szupingc and @Tim_Wallace's piece on the new economic forecasts feels like a key reason.
"By the end of this decade, workers’ real-terms hourly pay – adjusted for inflation – will still be 0.5% below its 2009-10 level. That’s more than two lost decades of growth."
💸 "Even a bond market-friendly Budget may not be enough to save the Chancellor"

@b0bbybux I don't accept it! But it could be a way for a desperate Government to argue the toss. I hoped I'd made that clear by saying the manifesto has already slipped on NICs, the hunt is on for more loopholes, the freeze in rates is a stealth tax, etc
The govt actually have commissioned and funded six new prisons, but guess what?
Planning appeals and badgers have prevented us actually building them. We have legalised crime to avoid upsetting NIMBYs.
