Disagree. Heat pumps are very efficient when used correctly and will outperform fossil fuel on a whole life cost. The issue is getting your property ready for low grade heat by insulating well and ensuring you have sufficient surface area for effective heat transfer. Replaced my failing gas boiler before last winter with a heat pump and changed to an EV tariff - net result £1200 refund from Octopus after 10 months of operation. Same instal cost as new gas before you take the grant…..

@davidflatman 2 of 2. Also, the school our kids both go to subsidises a large number of places and offers completely free places every year to children from less fortunate backgrounds. There should be a Social Value threshold for VAT exemption as per major government procurement rules
