“We are the largest party of the working class. I don’t need anyone to define my politics. I’m an Irish republican. I come from a working class constituency. I’m a United Irelander. I believe in fairness, I believe in justice and I have an ambition for this country. What I want is a government without Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael… and I’m prepared to work to make it a reality”

Micheal Martin's government is responsible for the chaos in the country at the moment . They knew weeks ago that this protest was coming and they did nothing to stop it. They should have been in talks with the protestors weeks ago and this mess would have been averted.
@FineGael I used to hear the previous Fine Gael finance minister bragging about his rainy day fund, well Simon it pouring rain where I am please release the rainy day fund and not that miserable offering you gave the Nation last week.
The world's oil fields are on fire, petrol diesel and heating oil prices gone through the roof, thousands of people killed , maimed and made homeless and what is the lead headline in the irish times about. GERRY ADAMS.
What a plonker of a NEWSpaper.
@FineGael Might I remind you that the Government in the North have no means of raising funds. This fact you know well and as usual you are just making cheap political points while you play your part in a do nothing government.
Overnight, diesel up another 8c per litre. Home heating oil up another €100 for a fill. And what is Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael’s response? To tell people to wait until next Tuesday for them to hold another meeting! Another 6 days! More delay.
They could cut fuel prices today if they wanted. They could implement what is in Sinn Féin’s legislation. This would ease the pressure on people right now. But they choose not to act. We will keep the pressure up until this do-nothing government does its job!
Micheal Martin accuses Sinn Fein of rewriting history when the only rewriting being done is by the leaders of Fine Gael and Fianna Fail. It would appear that he is accepting without question the Kenova report, the report was written by two chief Constables of the British Police.
