i just used the phrase ‘just a tad’ for the first time in years and thought to myself, ‘i’ve never known why tad means little, i wonder if it’s related to tadpole’ so i looked it up and it is, in fact, a shortened version of tadpole. i think that’s charming
@PietaPotato There are several words, mostly place names, that are used by the general public and on official signage, but resources for real learning are currently restricted to the Aboriginal community. I think it’s really interesting work!
@PietaPotato Palawa kani is a reconstruction of Aboriginal languages in Tasmania. The institute that did the work wants to wait until the Aboriginal community is fluent and comfortable before they open it up to the general public. (1/2)
