Timber Design Initiatives delivers Europe-wide approaches to education, innovation and demonstration of best practice in the use of #timber in #architecture.
@davelomax @JurajMikurcik @holz_bau @ArchitypeUK Thanks David - I’ve been following this project and the work of the many partners involved. Here’s a swop for you: have a look at our https://t.co/uHZAfkkFj4 site to find out about the mobile DLT factory we’ve been developing.
@davelomax @JurajMikurcik @holz_bau @ArchitypeUK David - I wasn’t being critical of your comments and I’m delighted to learn that WTA is on the case. My own underlying interest is in getting mass timber into production in the UK using home grown timber - something that’s much less expensive with DLT.
@JurajMikurcik @davelomax @holz_bau @ArchitypeUK Have a look at our online short courses https://www.masstimber https://t.co/bAr5LWTCjY - four more sessions on DLT to go!
@JurajMikurcik @davelomax @holz_bau @ArchitypeUK (Yes, there is more than one type of DLT) and it’s not necessarily the case that it uses more wood than CLT - it depends on the system, the use and the specification. DLT buildings up to seven storeys are no more complicated than timber frame …. More…
@JurajMikurcik @davelomax @holz_bau @ArchitypeUK David - the reason the Mass Timber Academy’s has organised its online short course, ‘Design and Construct with Dowel Laminated Timber’, has to do with the fact that there is so little knowledge amongst architects and engineers in this country about these non-glued systems …more
@fionnstevenson @55n@MoreOurselves@WaughThistleton@ArchitypeUK We are a long way beyond the original issues that worked against DLT. Edinburgh Napier’s COCIS has done invaluable research on species, resource availability, structural performance, etc. Way beyond manual fabrication too. Happy to talk more about where the technology sits now.
@fionnstevenson @MoreOurselves@WaughThistleton@ArchitypeUK Possible to build up to seven storeys in DLT. We already build to that height in Scotland using platform timber frame.
@williamnhutton A front rank politician??? The man who sold the nation's gold reserve at the lowest price and who knowingly wrecked everyone's pensions??? And who bequethed us the current crop of reprobate politicians??? Aye, right.
@mrandysummers @HarryWhitmore Thanks Andy - much appreciated! Harry, please also have a look at our education and innovation websites- https://t.co/YzB0iQHEei & https://t.co/uHZAfkkFj4 - and DM me for more information.
@F1ArmchairAssoc @DeborahMeaden Is that meant to be an ironical comment? If not, please tell which part of the Brexit negotiations he managed well? Borders? Fishing? Ireland?
@flymomike @DeborahMeaden Michael, could you maybe change that last line to English public please? Scotland didn't vote for this shower of gangsters, spivs, racists and crooks.
@duncancltaylor@roswh@achill_jim@LesleyRiddoch Ah. I thought about attending the conference but felt thirty quid was a bit of a cheeky charge to members for an online event, especially as I’m still raging about money I previously donated when Nicola put out a call for funds for a referendum & which now seem to have gone awol.
@duncancltaylor@roswh@achill_jim@LesleyRiddoch Not quite sure what you mean: those ex members of the SNPs NEC driven out by internal party shenanigans or those ex members of the SNP who decided to leave the party to join ALBA? Not necessarily the same thing? And did somebody twist your arm to donate money? Was it PT Barnum?
@AgentHomepride@mcgeechan_ian @ReadingLasses17 @ChildOfAlba@NicolaSturgeon Prejudice is not truth. Invective is not honesty. Being unable to accept criticism, never mind apologise, for your shallow, thoughtless and wholly insensitive remark is the reaction of a petulant, spoiled child. But not a happy one.
