@natehoodstp It would have to come from a mandate to the state probably. I don’t think it’s the first time a city has been forcefully annexed in this country.
@natehoodstp The selling point is removing overlapping bureaucracies into one more centrally operated. Would in theory make it more cost efficient for everyone involved.
In practice it would be concerning to add more to Saint Paul’s plate when we don’t do our current work load efficiently
@natehoodstp@StarTribune Felt like cities doing this without the suburbs was just asking for small businesses to move to the suburbs… prices aren’t that higher in the city to offset the added labor expenses.
Minimum wage should be addressed on a county or state level.
@natehoodstp Feels like this train left the station already… not sure how any local government can have an impact on issues like corporate consolidation.
@natehoodstp Add to this the eviction moratorium and I don’t see why investors would put money in Saint Paul over Minneapolis or the suburbs. We need to find a way to overcome the reputational damage we’ve had as a city the last couple years.
