Something very skewed is happening at the Kenyatta National Hospital Renal Unit, and almost nobody is talking about it. 🧵

1/ SHA covers two dialysis sessions per week at KSh10,650 per session. But at KNH, once a patient is admitted as an inpatient, they reportedly get only one covered session, while the second and third sessions must be paid for in cash.

2/ The strange part is that the same patient, at the same hospital, can receive the two covered dialysis sessions when treated as an outpatient.

3/ This means some of the sickest patients, the very people who need dialysis most urgently, are the ones whose families are being asked to raise cash for additional sessions.

4/ Families are therefore being pushed into a brutal position where delays can mean worsening fluid overload and other serious complications simply because they cannot immediately raise another KSh10,000 or more.

5/ @MOH_Kenya @SHA_Kenya, this is not what Universal Health Coverage was supposed to look like. Dialysis is not an elective procedure that patients can casually postpone.

Separate dialysis from the inpatient per diem arrangement and allow admitted renal patients to access their full SHA dialysis entitlement, including the eight sessions available each month.

At Kenyatta Hospital, SHA covers dialysis if you are OUTPATIENT.
If you are admitted and sicker INPATIENT, SHA only pays for 1 session. The rest you pay CASH or you die.

Today marks the end of the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise.
I sincerely thank everyone who turned out to register as a voter and took part in shaping the future of our nation.

As affirmed under Article 38 of the Constitution, every citizen has the right to exercise their political rights, including participating in free, fair, and regular elections. These rights can only be realized through voter registration, which is the gateway to active participation in the electoral process. Kenyan democracy is therefore in your hands.

Please note that voter registration will continue at Huduma Centres, the IEBC Customer Experience Centre at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi, as well as at IEBC Constituency Offices.

Tumefika almost 1.7M new voters (maybe more). As a result, politicians and interested parties have been trying to get me to work with them. Some offering money, positions and some blackmailing. Some interested parties are fundraising and getting money using my name. The worst is infiltration.

If you are asked to contribute money in the name of Tuko Kadi, verify first. Question boldly. Protect the movement.

Because this moment belongs to young people. To new leaders. To fresh thinking. To a generation that refuses to inherit broken systems without challenging them.

We are not here to recycle old politics. We are here to redefine it.

You do not need to travel to your home county to register. The Commission has deployed open kits, which allow a citizen to register as a voter for any polling station in Kenya from the registration center near you.

Voter registration is NOT currently taking place in electoral areas with scheduled by-elections or ongoing election petitions. These areas include Porro Ward, Endo Ward, Emurua Dikirr Constituency, Ol Kalou Constituency, Malava Constituency and Mbeere North Constituency.

Why are your voter verification results showing your polling station and stream are “Not Applicable (N/A)“?

This is because voter registration is going on. Once voter registration concludes, the Commission will split registration/ polling centres into polling stations (streams) of upto a maximum of 700 voters.

The Final Register will be published with your specific polling station and stream number.

CLARIFICATION

Should those who registered before 2012 as voters need to register afresh?

Not at all UNLESS they DID NOT register as voters from 2012 when the new Register of Voter (ROV) was established under the new Constitution of Kenya 2010 and boundaries delimitation of 2012.

REASON?
Because before 2012, the ROV was manual. In 2012, it went BIOMETRIC and so all eligible Kenyans were required to enrol and their Biometrics captured. This is the ROV that has been in place since 2013. As of the 2022 General Election, the Commission maintained an accurate and audited register comprising 22,120,458 voters.

So we have not asked ALL OLD VOTERS PRE-2012 to register a fresh. Just those few who might have missed to register in 2012 and who, subsequently, have never registered under the Biometric system to date.

I have seen the concerns about people missing their polling station name and stream no.
Let me clarify this, it is not that your details are missing or voter's information is compromised.
What happens is that once you register as a voter, you are assigned a polling centre lets say your nearest primary school. That is where you will go to vote.
But then, the IEBC rules state that a polling station should have a maximum of 700 voters per polling station. That is why you find that you are registered in X primary school stream 2 or 3.

So why are the polling stations and stream numbers missing? It is because of the ongoing mass voter registration. So new names will be added to the voters register. And since the names are arranged in the register alphabetically, it is technically impossible to determine one's stream as new names are added each day.
So after the registration is over, that is when IEBC will publish the voters register and assign the streams. So do not worry or be alarmed.
