This is Scotty Enoe.
Enoe is a CVS security guard who was arrested in NYC just over a week ago after defending himself from Charles Brito, a shoplifter, who attacked him, threw him to the ground, and punched him in the face after Enoe confronted him over shoplifting, which resulted in Enoe pulling out a knife and stabbing Brito in self defense. Brito died from his wounds shortly after.

Brito is a homeless man who had a history of 16 prior arrests since 2017 and had come to that store multiple other times to shoplift, but was told off about it by Enoe and said to Enoe that he would kill him.

Enoe is being charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

He is currently out on a $100k bond, had to give in his passport, has to wear an ankle monitor, and has strict conditions regarding where he can be every day.

Enoe immigrated to the US 10 years ago from Grenada, has steadily held a job since then, currently works two jobs despite suffering from sickle cell anemia, and has no criminal record.

I'm not sure why practically nobody is covering this story, but this is pretty much another Daniel Penny/Jose Alba case and I hope Scotty Enoe gets the justice that he deserves.

The main issue I would think progressives would have with race swapping in franchises where the main character is white is that it seems to cement whiteness as the aspirational goal for nonwhite people--as if to say "one day you can stand where the white man stands today!"

Needless to say, this comes off as distinctly white supremacist and unwittingly places "white" cultural products as the gold standard of not just entertainment but civilisation itself. It seems to say not just "we want to stand where you stand" but also "we want to dress in your clothes, live in your house, and walk in your shoes."

This kind of persistent race-swapping implies that there is no other culture of value and that all other cultures must aspire to be like the West--this is the progressive viewpoint. It is actually very ethnocentric and shows profound cultural chauvinism and a kind of parochial paternalism towards those races they *must* view as somehow inferior to white people. Why else would we need "equality", if the non whites were the equals of the whites?

If I were a regular member of the viewing public, I would have no idea that there were epics and sagas that were not written by a white person. I would only know that white people wrote the only stories worth hearing and to improve the lot of those nonwhites we must have them dress in our clothes and recite our words and only then will they be seen by Hollywood as worthy.

Naturally, I disavow this mindset completely. I believe these peoples have a rich narrative history and are capable of telling their own stories; they do not need us to affirmative-action their way into our stories and, in fact, it is a kind of ritual humiliation of them when we do. It is a subtle way of degrading them and putting them in their place, which is to say, where the white entertainment mogul says they should be.

As a traditionalist, I actually do respect the traditions of other cultures and would like to see them authentically represented instead of seeing the progs reverse colonise Western entertainment to silence their own guilty white-supremacist consciences.
